About Me...

My name is Amy Tait and I am the director of Opunake Dance Company.  My husband, three daughters and I relocated to Opunake at the end of 2021 from Wellington, and we have loved every minute of our time here.

I have been dancing for over 30 years and have over 20 years experience teaching dance. After completing my two year diploma in Commercial Dance at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre (now Te Auaha) I established Step Out Dance Company in the eastern suburbs of Wellington which I ran for 18 years.

 

Additional to teaching at my dance school I was also the course co-ordinator for the Musical Theatre degree at Whitireia for 5 years, while teaching on both the Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance full-time tertiary courses.  I also have a Masters Education.

I am so excited to bring ballet and jazz into the community and to meet some more of the local families. I believe dance is such a powerful tool in gaining confidence, body awareness, discipline and so much more.
